Dear students,

We are going to practice our writing skills with a book report from: "Not your typical dragon" by Dan Bar-el
Not your typical dragon by Dan Bar-el. Online copy for educational purposes.

You can watch this video too to improve your comprehension of the story:

Duplicate the Google Slides and complete the information. REMEMBER: don't copy sentences from the book, only complement what are you saying and with quotation marks (e.g. The Dragon is a coward because "he ran away from home")

  1. Hi Sara,
Firs of all, congratulations on your well-designed blog! It is definitely a source of inspiration to anyone. I found it very intuitive and easy to navigate. The sequence of this writing activity is very well structured, giving two different options to student to chose, either reading or listening to the story. Endless research is showing us that student choice increases motivation!
The content of this activity is suitable and appealing to your students' ages since reading authentic children's literature books is an excellent way to learn new words, grammar structures, and expand vocabulary. In addition, having students create their own book report by using Google Slide and including the assessment criteria is a powerful tool to assess their comprehension and writing skills simultaneously.
I couldn't find a more complete activity for elementary students related to book reports. Thank you for sharing your ideas!
